Climate
Mild and sunny the whole year round
A particularly pleasant, restorative Atlantic climate can be enjoyed on the northeast coast of Lanzarote.
Wind and weather phenomena
The northeast trade winds prevail, shaping beautiful trade wind clouds in the skies above the north of the island, which characterise the island's incomparable light. It is also thanks to these winds that the heat is not oppressive on Lanzarote's northeast coast during high summer. Southerly winds are extremely rare. Sometimes the winds also bring sand from the Sahara with them. On Lanzarote, this weather phenomenon is known as “Calima”. Westerly winds, which can bring short rain showers (only in winter!), are just as rare.
Average air temperatures
The average annual air temperature is 20.5°C. In August the average lies at 24.5°C, whilst in January, it is 16.9°C. These averages also take the night-time temperatures into account. During the day, the average annual temperature on the northeast coast of Lanzarote lies between 20°C and 25°C.
Water and bathing temperatures
The Atlantic is at its best during the summer and late autumn. The waters invite visitors to take a dip at temperatures between 22°C and 25°C (from September). In the winter time, the waters cool to 18°C, and sometimes to temperatures as low as 17°C.
