Beaches in the north of Lanzarote
There's still some real insider tips to discover here
Mala's natural stone pool is Lotus del Mar's “local beach” so to speak and is located immediately adjacent to Casa Marlene and Casa Santa Maria. It is a tidal pool: at low tide, it is only suitable as a children's paddling pool, however at high tide, a wonderful swim may be enjoyed here in complete safety.
La Garita is a fabulous sandy beach located in Arrieta, Mala's northern neighbour. It lies around just 3 km from the village. This peaceful and safe sandy beach is an absolute paradise for children. The waters are shallow and there is also a children's playground. Two pleasant beach bars invite guests to sample some fish specialities and other tasty tapas.

Los Caletones, a real insider tip for the romantic at heart. This little white sandy bay cannot be reached by car: it may only be accessed on foot via a narrow pathway that leads along the coastline. Starting from the northern end of the fishing village of Punta Mujeres, it is an around 2 km walk to Los Caletones. Those wishing to go a little further, will find themselves at the Jameos del Agua.

Caletón Blanco – also known as “Baby Beach” – lies some 2 km from Orzola at the northern tip of Lanzarote. White sands sprawl between the lava beds and offer plenty of space! Shallow lagoons form at low tide in which even toddlers can play in complete safety.

La Canteria – Only for strong swimmers. This idyllic, rugged sandy beach is located directly beside Orzola, Lanzarote's northernmost town. Regardless of how inviting the turquoise blue waters of the Atlantic may seem, utmost precaution is required here! Dangerous undercurrents can wash even the strongest of swimmers out to sea. This beach is well worth a visit even if you don't have a swim. La Canteria offers pure rugged romance!

Famara Bay affords a 6 km long sandy beach. This idyllic bay in the northwest of Lanzarote is an absolute haven for kitesurfers, windsurfers and surfers alike. However, it is only moderately suitable for carefree bathing, as there are strong undercurrents and the waves are generally extremely big. Those who are not particular strong swimmers should instead take a stroll along the beach and marvel at the surfers' incredible antics.
